Coffee with Cortney 8/16
Welcome back to Coffee with Cortney. My favorite little virtual coffee shop where I answer FAQs, share things I am going through or talk about topics that are heavy on my heart. Last week I chatted all things Faith and this week I’m answering one of the most frequently asked questions EVER!
We’re Engaged! This is probably the most frequently asked question! “Do you think you and Adam will get married?”, “When are you putting a ring on it?”, etc etc! We are excited to announce our engagement so I wanted to share some of the details of our story with you.
When I moved to Chattanooga almost two years ago, I had no idea the man across the street would be the man I would marry one day! I can remember crying on my porch, which faces his house, reading my bible and praying for my future husband. I had no idea how I’d ever find him because being a single mom of 3 is hard in the dating game. But I’m sure God was on his throne laughing.
If you’ve followed me for long, you can see Adam loves me and my kids so much! He has been the biggest blessing in my life this year. I can’t imagine doing this without him by my side!
To my surprise Adam had been meeting up with my sister to go over ring designs. He selected a gorgeous pear shaped stone! They were even able to incorporate my great grandmother’s diamond in the band.
On August 1 we went out to a delicious dinner at Ruth’s Chris steakhouse then back to the new house to “bring the chickens in their coop”.
To my surprise there were candles and lights strung everywhere and our families were hiding in the house, even his 83 year old grandmother got to be there. They were all able to watch the proposal from inside the house. Of course I said “Yes!”
Since the kids were at their dad’s that weekend, once we picked them up he had them surprise me. They set up the backyard again and he told them how much he loved them, that he wanted to be there for us forever and asked them if he could marry their mom?! They all squeeled and yelled “YESSSS” so with three little heads propped up on the edge of the pool he asked us to marry him.
We are excited to plan a wedding and finally tie the knot! We are currently looking at venues locally and even considering a destination wedding. Once we find “the place” we will nail down a date, but we are hoping for sometime this Fall or next Spring.
I hope this helped answer some of the questions you had! With all of the moving and planning we will be moving Coffee with Cortney to once per month. It will be the last Sunday of each month to recap all of the fun!
