Summer Treats

Easy Sweet Treats to Try!

CortneyJuly 24, 2020

Now that we are in the thick of summer, the kids and I are always looking for sweet treats that can cool us down. While I’ve tried making ice cream in the past, it turned out more labor intensive than I was into but found the perfect alternative which is still a summer classic! Popsicles!

Summer Treats

Popsicles are pretty impossible to mess up! You can play scientist by mixing juices and fun ingredients to discover a one of a kind recipe. The kids love helping come up with ideas on what we can throw into our next batch. Just mix your liquid, pour into the molds, drop in any solid ingredients such as fruit, candy or sprinkles and freeze!

Below are a variety of molds that are perfect for normal sized popsicles, minis (perfect for younger kids) or easy packable bags to grab on the go.

Simple and Sweet:

Try a simple fruit combo like orange juice with orange slices then freeze. Or even a combination like Raspberry and Blackberries in a Cranberry juice solution. This one is usually something I can make with things that are readily available in my kitchen already so it is our most frequent go to.

A Candy Combo:

The Kids personally love this combo and for good reason. We love using a watermelon or strawberry base then add in fun candies that freeze well like gummy bears or sour worms.

A Creamy Combo:

While I love the juice base, I also wanted to add a more decadent one that was creamy and rich but still EASY! For this one, I actually use a melted pint of ice cream as the base and pour into the molds then drop in fruit or chocolates before freezing. This is definitely up my alley as it is SO easy but tastes like it took hours to make!

Well there you have it! Another super simple yet delicious idea to try this summer. Want more yumminess? See 5 Summer Salad Recipes to try out!
