Powerful Prayers for Troubling Times

CortneyJuly 28, 2020

As Summer is in full swing, so is this Mama’s anxiety. It’s been a year full of ups and downs, I’m sure so many of you can relate. Between worries for our family’s health, the state of our world and now making new decisions like ‘should our kids go back to school?’, my anxiety level is at an all time high. One way I manage my stress and anxiety is by turning to the Lord, so I wanted to share some tips and powerful prayers for troubling times.

When times get tough, I turn to God. His message, His promise – it’s stronger than any feeling I have. But it’s not always easy to remember that! Don’t worry, even the people strongest in their Faith have days where they need a helping hand. I know times are tough right now. There are a lot of decisions to be made, the world seems to constantly be changing and presenting new issues, and if you’re a mom – you probably have a little one or little ones looking up at you.

If this sounds familiar, know you’re not alone. Here are a few situations happening in the world and some prayers that may help ease your anxiety, calm your spirit or just some powerful prayers for troubling times.

Powerful Prayers for Troubling Times

FOR THE MOM MAKING TOUGH DECISIONS:

“Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest.” – Matthew 12:28

Father, I come to you, humble and scared, and ask that you carry my burdens. I pray: lift my spirit and fill me with your love and peace so that I may be restored and renewed in body and mind. Lord, please provide guidance for my soul and give me the courage and wisdom to help me in my role as a mother. Amen.

FOR THE SOUL SEEKING PEACE DURING THE STROM:

“Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God.” –Philippians 4:6

Lord, during this time I seek your trust and a strong presence to lean on. I thank you for your guidance and mercy. I come to you and ask that your will be done in this situation we are currently facing. Please help guard my heart and my mind to keep me focused on your will. Lord, please send your Holy Spirit to create your peace into my soul and walk with me on this journey. Amen.

FOR THE PERSON NEEDING REST AND RECOVERY:

“So do not fear, for I am with you; do not be dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you and help you; I will uphold you with my righteous right hand.”- Isaiah 41:10

Lord, your Word speaks promises of healing and restoration and I thank you for the miracles you still perform today. Today I ask for those promises for myself (or for a specific person). I believe in the healing power of faith and prayer and I ask you to display your heavenly work. Please reach down and surround myself/person with peace and strength and give her the faith to believe that all things are possible for you. Amen.

I hope these are helpful, if you have a specific prayer request leave it in the comments below! You can find more of my favorite bible verses here
